With almost 20 years teaching experience, John Socha has allowed many pupils and teachers to benefit from his unique approach to the teaching of writing. He doesn’t believe that the subject can be split into Ofsted-friendly 40 minute chunks constantly focusing on single learning objectives. Instead, he believes many vital skills improve and develop concurrently over the course of different lessons and topics.
His philosophy, which has underpinned his own teaching, is that children write best when their imagination is engaged and they feel inspired; teachers teach best when they enjoy what they teach and when they see their pupils are happy and making real, sustained progress.
Every element of his method approaches the teaching of writing with these beliefs deeply embedded.
